*A great place to visit.  We had great service and lots of food.  The man in charge, Frank (I believe), seemed happy to provide us with one of our best dining experiences in my opinion.  The chicken was my favorite.  Brisket, pulled pork and ribs were included on our "combo plate".  The place is small and maybe not what you might expect a restaurant to be.......it's worth a try.

*This was a great place and an unusual experience. We had a basic buffet of ribs, chicken, pulled pork, cole slaw and beans. Once we sat down, the food was on the table. The food was good and I recommend the chicken and ribs. I would like to go back with only a few of us and see if we get the same service. Otherwise, this is one of those hidden gems in KC.

*Today's experience is really what this 8 year odyssey has been about. We stumbled upon a gem. Probably one of my top 3 G.A.S. trips since we began. Where do you start with this one? Once we figured out we were not eating in the garage, we saw the house where the food is served. That's right, I said a house. Stepping through the front door, we found a couple of tables and a number of chairs. Nothing fancy about this place. The fellow running the operation told us he had made up some sandwiches but they were all gone. He said he had pulled pork, brisket, chicken, ribs, beans, slaw, potato salad to serve. You help yourself to a can of pop and next thing you know, he is bringing our trays of meat. Then more meat and more meat then the sides kept rolling out. We were eating within minutes of sitting down and passing around trays of meat family style. This may not be your usual experience at Woodyard but it sure was great today. I usually don't order ribs but today, I had 3 and they were heavy smoked and very tender. The pulled pork was very good and the smoked chicken was excellent. Beans and sauce was average. Value was unbeatable and the portions were huge. I don't think I'll need to eat for the next 2 days. It seems the main line operation at the Woodyard is selling wood to many of the BBQ joints in town. You have to check this place out. Nothing like it in the 8 years we've been on this run. The fellow there today working was quite entertaining and did a great job serving our group. I'll be going back.

*My ratings may be slanted to the plus side because we had such a great time at Woodyard.  Frank is great.  How can he make a living giving away such great food?!  We may have benefited by being the last ones there at 1:30, but he just kept piling it on.  I must go back to see if it is always this good.

*If you have not been to TEXAS for real down home BBQ then Woodyard is the next best thing. Frank is the man. He cooks, serves, entertains and makes change. Casey gets credit for the pick of the year. No place in the metro gives a better value for your buck than Woodyard. Chicken was outstanding, excellent brisket, ribs, beans, slaw and potato salad. Is potato spelled correctly Dan? BBQ was served family style to our group. If this place was next to Jack's Stack Jack would go out of business. Woodyard is about as fancy as Ruby's Soul Food was but it's about the food. The chicken was succulent, tender, smoked and colorful. The ribs were tender, juicy and tantalizing. SIX dollars for ribs, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, slaw, beans and a soft drink or two. I had food.
