*I
had a pretty good meal at Smokestack. The ham sandwich was good and my small
portions of beans were excellent. The atmosphere was pretty nice and would be a
nice place to bring a family. This was our 2nd Smokestack in two months. I am
still confused who owns the restaurants and are they all part of one big
family...
*The rib was fine!! The other meats and the sauce are okay. They could
offer bigger sizes of the sides. What I had of the cheezy corn was great.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and the waitress did a nice job. The travel time to
this Smoke Stack, the route, and the back seat drivers makes this trip a real
fun memory!!
*A long ways there... No Creme soda. The ribs were above average but
nothing special about the place. The Smokestack in Martin City (Jack’s Stack)
is better. The corn was great.
*The Liberty/Northland version of Smokestack was pretty similar to
last month's Smokestack (KC, MO). I got the Burnt End Combo for $7.75.
I chose sliced pork and was pleased with
the choice. I got a good portion and
it was tender and smoky. The burnt ends were a little dry though. Like the
other Smokestack the beans were served in a 3-spoonful container. They
tasted great but I needed a lot more.
Again what's the deal with the bean rationing? The fries were OK - nothing spectacular. I liked the rustic
atmosphere here, plus there was plenty
of room and it wasn't smoky-like the other Smokestack. The service was outstanding and we got our food
fast. Overall, a pretty good
place but not worth the 40 minute drive from JCCC.
*This was a long trek from the college, but it is easy to find just West of I-35.
It is a large, homey kind of place with family and BBQ memorabilia on the walls.
There were only two other tables of customers besides our group so I was
surprised when one member in our party received a ham and brisket sandwich when
he had ordered beef only. My sliced brisket plate was full of marbled brisket
that was too fatty. I asked for some lean brisket and was given some right away.
There was not sauce on the table until we asked for it. The choice of sides were
small portions for beans or cheesy corn and they were out of slaw. My first trip
to this restaurant three weeks ago was a better experience.
*This was not our finest hour (or 3) with BBQ. I'm tired of thimble
portions of beans! What is it with Smokestack joints? I would say
more--but enough said about beans. My beef sandwich ended up half ham
which seems not too difficult to get right, and for $7.50, it was none too
plentiful. But, the fries were fine, sauce is thumbs up, and service was
direct and cordial. I want more beans!
*It is a nice place to meet friends, but they need
to work on the food some. The beans were good, but the portions were a
joke. A person should be able to eat the salad or beans throughout the
meal . The burnt ends were dry and
covered in sauce, I mean buried. Usually if some one smokes meat and does
it right the last thing you do is drown it in sauce. I was disappointed.
