*I liked Sneads. I thought the food was above average and we had excellent service. The
beans were my favorite food item and the ham sandwich was okay but it needed more BBQ
flavor. The atmosphere reminded me of a nice place to bring family members if they were
coming from out of town. I enjoyed the company and it was good to have a few new folks
with us on the trip.
*I have not made this statement for some time now but I'll have to say that Sneads is one
of the best places we've been to along this holy grail quest. Sneads delivered a high
quality BBQ experience. I took the risk of ordering the "Log Sandwich" (after a
horrible log sandwich experience in Lawrence) and it was outstanding. Chopped pork, beef
and ham. The beans are some of the best in KC and I would rate them up with the
Smokestacks and LC's. Fries were very good and the service was excellent. Sneads sauce was
also quite tasty. Really enjoyed the atmosphere - this place has been at the same location
for the past 40 some years.
*The beans are excellent (lots of meat) but a little sweet. Very good fries.
Both are well portioned. However, the beef was sliced too thin to hold
moisture. I know it can be done--Laura's is wonderfully thin and moist.
Perhaps I should ask from now on the depth of cut and then order.
*No cream soda and out of strawberry. The Bar B Q place with the oldest tree in back. I
have been going there since high school in the 60's and it is consistently good. They now
have two sauces to select from. Not very many people there and plenty of room to sit large
groups. The only Bar B Q place I have ever been in with a banner from Eastern Oregon
University.
*Overall, about number 3 or 4 on my best 10 BBQ shops in KC.
*Enjoyed the meal, atmosphere, and the country setting (and the company). The "Log
Sandwich" was excellent and unusual: finely chopped variety of meat combined together
for a great flavor. Getting a side of beans turned out to be a good decision.
Fries were better than average. Cole slaw that came with the sandwich was quite good
and quite small.
*Very enjoyable. The meat portion was a little small, but it was very tasty.
The hot sauce was spicy but lacked a little in flavor.
I didn't try the mild. Overall it was a treat especially on such a beautiful
day. I'd sure go back and try some of the other items
on the menu.
*Very nice place for a great BBQ meal. The beans were perfect...very meaty and
smoky. The fires were a tad on the soggy side. I nice drive out south on the
Missouri side on a great sunny February afternoon. It was good to have Larry and
Roger join us.
*The sauce was a bit on the sweet side -- just like I like it. Beans were very good,
abundantly filled with meat bits/shavings. Nice atmosphere, much history accumulated
during the 44 years Snead's has been in business. Very friendly wait staff.
Since I ordered a large meat plate, I would have preferred a bit more meat. Perhaps
I was too hungry.
I'd return unhesitatingly.
*The portions were good except for the slaw. |
