*A pretty good BBQ place in Lawrence but nothing superlative. I was pleased with the smoked meat and the rich and spicy sauce. The fries were average and the beans were unique (plenty of peppers and meat) but still lacked something. The Pat's Special was a pretty good value but I was hungry for more. The service was friendly but unfortunately they were understaffed -- our waitress had a little trouble serving our big group by herself. I liked eating outside on the deck and enjoyed the summer sun.   Great to see the G.A.S. group again!

*An average place. I thought the fries were the best thing on the menu. the sandwich was small and the beans were bland. The service was okay but they need to let you pay at the register. You should never have to pay for BBQ at your table. It was good to see Dan.

*This was the best so far for me. My meal was great. The 1/2 of bird (aka: chicken) was delicious. Sitting outside in the sunshine was a real treat!!

(editorial note:  Not to discredit her "best so far" comment, but Janna has only been to a couple of outings... and besides, she orders chicken! ;-))

*The beans had green things in them -- it was difficult to taste the beans. The service was sub-par, not getting forks, three of us having to wait after the others had received their lunches, the bill on one tab . . .. .

*The food was not bad, but definitely not worth driving to Lawrence to eat. The portions were very small. When you eat a sandwich, fries, and beans (at about 9 bucks with the special), you should not feel hungry. We stopped for a candy bar on the way back to the college. The service was very poor. I think it is a very bad practice for a BBQ place to ask a group of 12 to split the check themselves. We have been to dozens of BBQ places in KC and this is the first that refused to either keep separate checks or spilt it. …left a very bad taste in my mouth.

*The good things first… ok now for the bad stuff. Service was bad I mean bad. Could not split ticket. Did not like having to be forced to give a 15% tip when the service was so bad. Tip is to insure prompt service. Twenty minute wait before the server asked if we wanted forks. The place used to be a Sub and Stuff and was better then. No cream soda since Dick was not there to comment. The second Mr. Pibb was watered down. I guess that is why we got free refills. Oh yes there were two good things about the place. We got to see Dan again and the sweet potato fries were the best I ever tasted.

*Sauce was sweet but not overpowering. Meet was tender but did not taste smoked. NO BURNT ENDS!

*If you are on your way to K.C. to have some real BBQ, you could stop off here if you are really experiencing a severe craving. Otherwise, keep on driving. I ate the special and was still hungry. The beef was smoked and tender, but the sauce left a lot to be desired.

*great group gathered...enjoyed the patio...disappointed with portions of "special" beans oddly lacked flavor given the assortment of things floating in the bean sauce...sweet potato fries very good...sauce fairly non-descript.

*It was a nice day to sit out on the deck. I liked the sauce, but there was not much else to entice me to return.

*An average BBQ experience. The beans were, well......not good. They need some help in this dept. Fries were so-so and the pork sandwich was ok. Pat's offers an alfresco dimension to BBQ. The service was poor. We were the only ones there and they screwed up our orders. Plus, they had the nerve to require a 15% tip for bad service.
