*Beans were real sweet. The burn ends were very good.

*Good smell of hickory in the parking lot!  Always a good sign!  The ribs were smoky and tasty.  The sliced brisket was good, but sliced too thin to stay moist long. I really missed the rest of the gang!  The middle of summer BBQ trip really separates the men from the boys.

*This is a nice place with oak hardwood tables, green awnings and friendly service. I ordered a lunch plate of two ribs, sliced meat and fries. The ribs were very flavorful with a crispy/chewy balance, nicely smoked. The sliced beef brisket was lean and moist and not as flavorful as the ribs. The fries were terrific, made from large wedge cuts and served hot and crispy. To my surprise, we were offered complimentary soft serve ice cream, along with a bottle of Hershey's chocolate sauce to drizzle as we pleased.  That was a nice ending on a day with a heat index of 105!

*I would go to Odens again for the general experience, but likely not for a sandwich.  The meat was lean but dry.  But, I tell ya, when you smell the hickory and experience the red cream soda, it really gets you started right.  Next time, I would order ribs rather than a sandwich.

*Easy to locate, and once found, a very good place for BBQ.  The beans were ALMOST as good as Smokestack.  Sandwich:  the beef was a little dry, but the meat was very lean.  I liked the sauce.  The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the free ice cream at the end was a nice touch.

*Value was excellent only 6.95 for a combo plate. Red cream soda good. A very small non-smoking area.  I have been there numerous times over the years and it is consistently good. Have taken others there over the years and  received good reviews.

Although the portions were plenty, I found the lunch menu a little pricey for my pocketbook.  I ordered the burnt end sandwich with fries, the fries were good (wedge cut)- the burnt ends, however, were not.  The meat seemed fatty, and a tad dry for my taste- and the ends were not burned.  Oh well, you can't win them all.  The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice.  Pleasant conversation during the drive made the excursion to Belton worthwhile.
