*Not
good when the first thing the waiter says is, " I'll check to see
what we are OUT of." (later)
....... No Brisket, must happen often.
*This
place was okay. I am finding that I don't like BBQ places where
you need to sit down and order the food. It ends up
costing more and sometimes the food is not that good. I had
a pretty good ham sandwich, the beans were good and the fries were
decent. The service was mediocre. I ended up paying $13.00
for my meal. I could buy the same meal at other BBQ places,
order at the counter, receive faster service, have a better
meal and pay
$8-$10. I like the sauce. I still buy the KC Masterpiece
sauce at the grocery stores but was disappointed in the restaurant.
*The
service was slow at 1:30 p.m. with not that many people
in the place. The ribs were way above average. They were
smoked, tender and tasted great. The BBQ was overpriced and an
18% gratuity was added considering the service was outrageous.
Except for the ribs, I can think of no other reason to return.
*I
thought that the service was slow especially since it wasn't
even that crowded. I thought that the turkey and sausage sandwich
that I got was inadequate compared to how much I paid for it. Also,
I thought that the turkey meat was dry and that the sauce that they
provided wasn't all that good either.
*What
separates a BBQ 'restaurant' from a BBQ 'joint'? The answer: an
18% gratuity for a group. Masterpiece provides a restaurant
experience (it IS on the Plaza after all) complete with warmed, moist
towelettes. I do like the Masterpiece original sauce which is
definitely on the sweet side. I didn't like the fact that they
were out of brisket. The pork on the Carolina
sandwich was a little dry, but with the slaw on top plus extra sauce
was very tasty.
*Beans
were great! Pork sandwich was good, but way too much
sauce. The meat was tender, but I wonder how it would have
tasted without all the sauce. The service was not so good - very
slow, considering we were there after the rush. Having our
orders taken and getting our food - both took way too long. And we
were automatically charged an 18% service charge, which I wondered if
the wait person had really earned. Finally, they were out of
brisket - unforgivable!
*The
food I had was good, not great. I had the regular small
sandwich, one side and a coke. It came to $11.50. They
have it right with the food. They just need to re-design the
model for service. We waited a long, long time to be served and
then longer to get the checks.
*It
may be a good place to take business folks out for a meal, but not
worth the time and
money for the food you get. It seems that all the unnecessary
service and staff drive the cost beyond what people will pay for a
working guy's lunch.
