*Great
Service!! Great Onion
"strings". Burnt ends
were a little dry, but no fat. Wonderful
sticky buns. Delightful trip!!
*I went over today thinking this will be the yuppie Jo.Co. version of BBQ.
I know there has been some critical postings to this site regarding KC
Masterpiece. However, I was actually surprised to find pretty decent BBQ here.
The pork sandwich was not sliced pork as I thought it would be but rather large
chunks of pork on a kaiser roll. Very good. The sauce is decent. I like the
thick consistency as it tends to stay on the meat once poured on. Fries were ok
and the beans were ok. Portions were average and the atmosphere is a bit upscale
for a BBQ establishment. Service was excellent. I'd go back again - especially
with it being so close to the campus. 3 hours later my shirt still smells like I just crawled out of a smoker.
*Everything was very good about Masterpiece except the bottom line--the brisket.
My beef brisket sandwich was so tough that it makes me believe that
mankind was never meant to be carnivorous (or even omnivorous).
My portions were much better than I remember from past visits.
*The
onion things (not rings) were pretty darn good too
"8".
*many trips to Masterpiece since I'm a fan
of their "pickin’ chicken" sandwiches. What other BBQ joint offers broccoli florets as a side and
hot towels after the meal? Definitely
a suburban atmosphere, but good flavor and quality in my book.
*No cream soda, nice cloth towels, onion rings good, nice company, burnt ends a
little tough but tasty, chicken better, nice rolls and butter. Nothing special
about the place but a little above average. No Pepsi .
*A surprise. This proved to be a
good bbq meal at nice sit-down
restaurant. The service was great,
from separate checks to warm moist napkins to clean up with. The pork I had was well smoked, but a little chewy in places.
All in all it was a good stop. The
sauce is good, but all too familiar to have much appeal. |
