*Very
good food and the hospitality of Mary make for a great lunch. Don't
miss this one.
*The
beans were outstanding and the combo sandwich was great. The meat was
tender and smoked. It took awhile for everyone to get there food but
it would be a place I would go back to and try some other items on the
menu. I always enjoy a mom and pop place over a chain or strip mall
BBQ. It was hot when we went so we stayed inside but in the evening or
in the fall they had a nice outside area to eat on the south side. We had 11
people who went and as usual I enjoyed the company.
*I
can't remember the last time I gave an 8 rating to a BBQ restaurant!
It was very close to getting a 9! Jones BBQ is head and shoulders
above many we have seen in the recent years. Definitely take a trip
over to KCK to check this place out. I had a Brisket
sandwich/Fries/Beans today. I can still smell the wood smoke on my
shirt and it sure was found in the Brisket and the Beans. The Brisket
was very tender and cooked to perfection. Beautiful smoke ring.
The Beans, served the right way (in a good portioned serving) were excellent
and may be among the very best in KC. Fries were good and
crispy. Large sized portions all around. I had one of Dan's Rib
Tips and it was outstanding. Neat atmosphere in this old, small
building. They have a deck for outside eating but it was way too hot
today. One of the owners served our food and she was great. I'd
definitely go back. Get over and check this place out.
*The
generous portion of rib tips I ordered was tenderly cooked and flavorful.
The sauce was tasty but had a bit too much black pepper in it for my liking.
The ambience was comfortable and friendly with both indoor and outdoor
seating. Especially appreciated was the live jazz musician playing
over the lunch hour. The service was paradoxical: The ladies who
run the place need an efficiency expert to suggest how customer ordering can
be expedited. Slow, slow, slow! However, the women themselves
were some of the most delightful restaurateurs that I could ever hope to
meet. Warm and jovial, they make their customers feel as though they
are sitting down to a Sunday afternoon family barbeque. Go to taste
the fine food, but stay to meet the engaging ladies.
*Great
atmosphere and terrific food. Sauce was different - sweet and peppery
and I liked it. Several large groups there and service was slow, but
worth the wait. $5.50 for beef sandwich and fries is a good deal.
*The
beef was a little tuff. The sauce needs to be kicked up a notch.
A very friendly staff!!
*We
had quite a wait for our food, but it was worth it! I had the burnt
ends. They weren't too dry and tasted absolutely delicious - maybe the
best in KC!
*I
had the 2 meat combo plate (brisket and sausage). The food was great
with excellent service (thank you Mary). I added a side of beans,
which I would recommend to anyone. Some of the BEST beans I have had!
*This
is one of my top ten BBQ restaurants in KC. I had a great combination
meat plate with ham and rib tips. The beans were the best I have
tasted since I have been with the group. Mary, the owner, was very
nice and an excellent host. She had a nice touch with the candy, wet
wipes and toothpick tray. If you haven't visited this place, it is
worth the time.
*Been
there 4 times in the last month. No need too say more.
