*Above average food but 22 miles there. If you are just out driving in the country would be a nice stop.
*For atmosphere, it's hard to beat the Hillsdale Bank BBQ. Love this little BBQ joint. Today I had a Burnt Ends Sandwich which looked more like a Pulled Pork Sandwich. Most all of the Pork had a good smoke flavor, it was moist and they laid plenty on the Sandwich. A little fatty in places but I worked around that. The Beans were very good although they came in a pretty small portion for their asking price. The Sauce is among the best in the KC area. I had the hot sauce today and it was perfect. Just the right heat blend and it really enhanced the Pork. Good service today from a friendly wait staff. Hillsdale Bank BBQ many not be the best BBQ in KC but it ' s a very good example of a small town BBQ joint and it's certainly worth the drive south to get there. I'd recommend you try the place.
*Great atmosphere but the meat to me lacked the taste of both rub and smoke. At a BBQ place, those are real problems. Still, the servers were great and the atmosphere of the countrified old bank building made the experience pleasant.
*We just had a small group to head down to Hillsdale bank today. The farther it is from work the smaller the group gets. I think the trip down to Hillsdale bank is a good choice. The food, though, is not what it once was…I am not sure why, but it was quite ordinary.
