*The
G. A. S. group is a super, nice group to be with.
I liked it when one of the proprietors came out and talked to us. Maybe more of the "south" has rubbed off on me than
I thought. We have lots of these places in south Georgia.
Thanks for including me. Lois
Ellis (Dave Ellis' mother)
*This was my second time at Doc and B's. I had an excellent meal and will
probably put it on my top ten list. The beans and fries were excellent. The ham
sandwich was good but it didn't quite have the good taste I have experienced at
other BBQ joints. I loved the atmosphere because it had the feeling of honky
tonk, good BBQ and dirty floors. I brought my mother and this was the first time
a parent joined our group. Doc even came out and took a picture with her. Again,
I would recommend Doc and Bruties very highly for a great place to relax and
have some good BBQ. Also, make sure you try those special pickles.
*This was some of the best
sausage I've had in a long time. Apparently,
the sausage is custom-made and is surprisingly lean. Frankly, I thought the sauce was rather bland.
However, the service was friendly and overall the meal was very
enjoyable.
*The atmosphere was definitely traditional barbeque style. It had an old kitchen
atmosphere that I hear has good bands playing on the weekend. Doc was there and
the service was great. They gave us as many free refills of soft drinks that we
wanted. The wait was not long at all for the food. The fries and the sauce were
my favorite, although the sandwich was pretty good as well. When I go back I am
going to try the ribs or the chicken because those seemed to get positive
comments from people that tried those items. They also makes spiced horseradish
pickles that were good as well.
*2nd time back to Doc
and Bruties since we began the tour. The first time there, they had recently
opened and it was obvious. This time was a much different experience. The large
Brisket sandwich was very lean, smoky and piled high. The beans also had a smoky
flavor and were quite good. Unfortunately, when you order a side of beans at
most BBQ joints, you wind up with a few spoonfuls. Beans cannot be that
expensive! Make your side of beans a side! Service was great as mine was one of
the first to arrive. Nice small town atmosphere. I plan to go back again. Check
them out, it's worth the trip.
*I had the sausage
dinner with fires. It was above average . They do not have a non-smoking section
which was the only down side to the meal. No creme soda. They have added booths
since we were here last and we had a large group attending.
*Excellent Beans (OK
Reynolds…we expect more in
comments from college professors that join us! Would you accept a two-word essay
from your students?)
*My chicken was a bit undercooked. Doc
and Bruties is a great little town "joint".
My complements to the waitress who took very good care of us, she was all
alone. The fries were great and I
love this sweeter sauce. I'll be back....
*The pork and sausage plate I
had was great! The sauce has a
strong unique flavor. This place is
worth a visit. We were there years
ago and it was good...I think it has improved. |
