*Sauce was good when I mixed the two together. I didnt seem like a
"real" BBQ place. From now on, I am denim woman! Meat was very tender, just not
smoked.
*I need more places to compare it with. Great trip on a sunny day. Good
company too!!
*More of a steakhouse than a BBQ joint. Not a great deal of BBQ variety
in the menu. Good sauce.
*I wasn't too impressed with Cattleman"s BBQ. It seemed like a nice
place and the folks were real nice, but the food was bad. I had the ham, fries and beans.
I wasn't impressed. My ham tasted like something I would get on the buffet line at
Furrs.
The fries were of rough texture and the beans were medium. As always, enjoyed the company
and I hope Janna enjoyed her first GAS experience. I appreciated the fact that the
waitress noticed my green stripe shirt.
*It was a good tender sandwich that had not spent much time anywhere near
smoke. Does not compare with KC's BBQ restaurants. Not a bad restaurant, just
not a "BBQ" one.
*The pork was very tender but did not have a smoky flavor. No cream soda.
The beans were very good. A long drive 27 miles. A beautiful day. Everything was perfect
except for Janna asking what the soup of the day was.
*A pretty weak BBQ experience. I became suspicious when I didn't smell
any smoke as we walked in. Next thing you know, we're looking at a menu that included BBQ,
mexican food, fried chicken and shrimp. What the $#@*&!??? I ordered the large pork
dinner. The pork (roast) was tender and lean but it was certainly not smoked. Could not
detect even a trace of smoke flavor in the meat. The beans (served in a thimble) were at
best, average. Fries were so-so. Really the only good thing about the meal was the price.
Very inexpensive. Service was good and lots of friendly folks work there.
*Beans came in a thimble with the dinner meal, but were good otherwise.
Beef was tender and moist, but lacked a smoky flavor. Unfortunately, the portions were
small. The sauces are mild and spicy. Fries were like the atmosphere...nothing special.
The menu was pretty pricey. It's not the kind of place to take the family and expect to
get a lot for your buck. Stay in Overland Park and try out the new LC's opening soon.
*Beans were smokey in favor, not sweet ,with just a taste of pepper.
Their ends were moist and very good!
*The Cowboy Special was burnt ends (beef &/or ham) with cole slaw,
beans, french fries and texas toast. Plenty of food and very tasty (although the burnt
ends weren't burnt or even smoky). I enjoyed the hot sauce although it wasn't that hot,
but seemed to have a decent flavor. The service was prompt and good. And as always I
enjoyed the chance to visit with some of my coworkers.
