*Bee Cee's was okay. My sandwich was good but it had too much sauce. The
beans were hot but a little bland. The fries were good and hot. It was a
small place. I liked the owner. I think he is trying hard to make it a
great place for BBQ. I just felt like the place was average. If I go
next time, I will probably order the ribs.
*Bee Cee's BBQ is a handy lunch place if you are in the area.
Service is very friendly if sketchy in its application. The
one-man operation is doubtless economical, but not terribly efficient.
Beans have a little spice and plenty of meat--I like them. The
half-rib special order provides plenty of meat for the $9.00. The
ribs were too fatty, and overcooked a bit as the surface was tough and
it was a bit loose on the bone, but the sauce is plentiful and tasty.
*Judging by appearances, it appears that Bee Cees
does more take out business/catering than sit down business. Just 3
tables on site. I had the Pulled Pork sandwich and a side of beans. The
lean pork was piled high on a large bun but seemed to be lacking the
smoke flavor I was hoping for. The beans were served in a decent portion
and were alright. I always judge the beans against the Martin City
Smokestack beans. Given that, most come up short in a comparison. The
fries I scooped off from Dave's plate were cooked just right and were
very hot. The sauce was good and it had a nice kick to it. Made my nose
run! Very good value for the meals as prices were very reasonable. The
owner was working by himself on this day so he was covering everything
and did a nice job. A very friendly fellow and he took our group picture
before we left.
*The Carolina Sandwich which was pulled pork and a very spicy vinegar
sauce and cole slaw on top had an ample amount of pork. The pork did not
have a smoky flavor and was a little dry, but difficult to taste because
the sauce made it difficult to taste anything because of it's strong
pepper seasonings. The fries were crispy, but not the best taste. I
would go back again and try the ribs because they looked good and the
barbeque sauce for the ribs had a good spicy flavor. The owner was very
accommodating and for a one-person, three-table restaurant was able to
meet all our requests. I would recommend it if you are in this part of
town.
*This place is located a short distance on the Blue Ridge Boulevard
exit off of I-470. The owner ran the place by himself, took our orders,
delivered our food and cleared off the tables. I ordered the sliced beef
sandwich, small, and requested the sauce on the side. My sandwich came
with the sauce on it. After a few minutes, the owner
replaced it. I tasted chili pepper in the baked beans and the sauce had
a definite kick to it. Dave let us try the fries and they were freshly
cooked, hot and crispy. I would like to go back and try the
ribs.
*Bee Cee's is a relatively new place (in the former Smoke Me Baby
location) on Blue Ridge Blvd. right off I-470 - so it's very easy to get
to. However, it is more of a take out place than a sit down
establishment - so don't expect to be "wowed" by the
atmosphere. The restaurant area only has a few tables and seats
about 12 and there's not much to it. The day we went
there was just the owner working so he was a one-man BBQ show (taking
orders, fixing the food, and delivering it to us). He was very friendly
and provided great service for doing it all himself. I had the
large beef sandwich with beans, fries and a drink and paid a little over
$8 - not a bad value. The beef sandwich was huge and had a good
smoked flavor, but it wasn't very tender and moist. The fries were
hot and crispy -- a little too crispy for my taste though. The
beans were good and had a kick to them - much like the sauce. I
think I would try the ribs next time and probably get it to go.
*It was a good lunch. The sauce is a bit spicy
for my taste. It is worth a stop. There is limited seating
(our group about filled it up). Got to talk to talk to the owner.
He is a nice guy who seems to know his business.
