*This is
quite a
place! The
burnt ends
were smokey,
tender and
flavorful.
All in all
it was a
great meal.
*The burnt
ends are "da
bomb"!!!!
The menu
description
of them
being
"chunks of
meat lightly
charred"
does a
dis-service.
They should
be described
as
"succulent
morsels of
tender meat
seasoned to
perfection
with smoky
grilled
undertones".
*For folks
who like
spicy beans,
their spicy
beans do not
disappoint
at all. If
you're brave
enough, you
can go for
the A.B.T's
(Almighty
Blazin'
Turds…I
think they
were
called). Jalapeno
peppers
stuffed with
a hot
flavored
cream
cheese,
wrapped in
bacon and
then
grilled.
Absolute
fire in the
mouth…so be
warned. I
could only
handle a
couple of
bites of the
red ones
(the green
were better
in that I
could taste
more of all
the flavors,
not just
"hot"). The
grilled
peppers are
not for the
timid, but I
give extra
points for
the
creativity,
presentation
and heat
level. The
turkey was
moist and
had some
great flavor
to it. The
ribs were
dry and were
not
something
I'd order
again or
recommend to
others to
try. The
service was
"EXCELLENT"
..very
attentive
and
accommodating.
*The burnt
ends were
great -
crispy but
still
tender.
*This was an
excellent
place. Had a
good ham
sandwich,
fries and
beans, The
service was
excellent
and the
folks were
real nice. I
tried a
friends
burnt ends
and they
were some of
the best I
have tasted
in KC. We
also had
some
ice cream
and brownies
and it was
excellent.
In the ten
years I have
been with
GAS, this
was only the
third time I
had dessert
with my BBQ.
I would go
back.
*I'd go back
for the
burnt ends,
the turkey,
and oh yeah,
the infamous
brownie
dessert!!!
*Small town
BBQ does not
get any
better than
this. I had
the Burnt
Ends and
they were
probably the
best I've
had in the
10 some
years of
G.A.S.ing.
Incredible!
Real crispy
on the
outside,
smokey
flavor,
moist and
very little
fat. The
Beans were
served up in
decent size
portions and
were quite
spicy - very
good. Fries
were cooked
just right.
The Sauce
was great
and the hot
sauce was
HOT!!!! If
you have any
room left
and even if
you don't,
order the
Fried
Brownie with
Ice Cream
Dessert.
Calories?
Fat? Who
cares - just
make room
for it! Any
place that
is decorated
around a
theme of the
Andy
Griffith
show, is
tops in my
book. What
could be
better?
Loved the
pictures of
Barney, Andy
and the
other cast
members.
Check out
the Mayberry
Union High
Sweatshirt
on display.
You can see
the Mayberry
references
in the Menu.
There is
even a
reference to
Snappy Lunch
in Mt. Airy,
NC. Great
service.
I'll
definitely
be back and
I'm getting
hungry just
thinking
about this
place.
Highly
recommend
the Burnt
Ends. Go
experience
the BBQ
Shack and
show up
hungry.
*This was a
great find
-- great
BBQ, fast
and friendly
service and
good size
portions. I
ordered the
Burnt Ends
Plate and it
was $8.25
and included
2 sides. I
haven’t
tried the
burnt ends
at every BBQ
place we’ve
visited but
this was the
best burnt
ends I’ve
ever had.
The chunks
were smoky,
tender and
plentiful.
The fries
and beans
were pretty
good too
–
I had the
Chuck Wagon
Spicy Beans
and they
were the
Texas style
“soup” beans
with just
enough spice
for me. They
had 4
selections
of sauces
and even the
“Wimpy” had
a kick. So
if you like
spicy
options for
your BBQ you
can get it
at the BBQ
Shack. And
if you still
have room, I
would
recommend
the brownie
bite dessert
–
chunks of
brownies
that are
fried and
then topped
with vanilla
ice cream.
This was
well worth
the trip to
Paola!
*I liked the
fact there
were two
different
kinds of
beans to
choose
from. The
Chuckwagon
Beans were
spicier than
the Goober
Beans. I was
glad I
ordered a
piece of
bread to
help calm my
mouth down.
:) The fries
had good
flavor and
were fresh
and hot! It
was nice
having 3
different
kinds. I
used the
"Wimpy"
sauce with
my fries to
help cool
off my mouth
from the
Chuckwagan
Beans!
:) They were
tasty! I
thought the
atmosphere
was casual
and
comfortable. Rick
has
decorated
the place in
memorabilia
from
The Andy
Griffith
Show
and other
things from
his
childhood. I
was FULL!
But I made
room for the
BEST
dessert, the
Fried
Brownie
Bites with
Ice Cream!!
YUM! Thanks,
Tammie! It
was worth
it!! :) It
might have
been a
little
pricy, but
it was
good! Service
was
great! Very
attentive
with our
drinks and
made sure
our orders
were
right. We
may have
received
special
attention,
but it was
nice. :) Not
having an
opportunity
to come very
often, I may
not have a
lot to
compare to,
but my
experience
at The BBQ
Shack was
very
good! Good
food, good
company,
good time!!
:) Thank
you!
