*A pretty good BBQ place, especially considering its strip mall location.  The beef and pork sandwich was tasty, and I really liked the thick, rich sauce.  The fries were unique -- crispy bits of fries that I had to eat with a fork.  They were real flavorful though and I liked them more than I thought I would.  The portions were excellent -- the sides of beans and fries were plentiful and a great value.  Very friendly staff and great service at this Oklahoma Joe's type joint.  I'd go back to Bates City BBQ.

*The ribs were above average and they had cream soda. The Bar B Q sandwich was average. Nothing else made the place special. 

*Overall, very good food.  Slaw was a bit tangy, but still very good.  Beans were nondescript.  Burnt ends were excellent.  

*Had a really good time with the G.A.S. gang - I'd been threatened with having my name removed from the web page if I ditched one more time!  Thought the regular sized sandwich was extremely generous, the beans were not outstanding but very good, and the cole slaw was on the sweet side (the way I like it).  Tasted the french fries which were thin and crispy.  Window service was friendly and fast - place looked clean and well organized and I liked the atmosphere.  An all around very good experience.

*Bates City de Shawnee is a comfortable place to partake of barbecue, especially for a strip mall location.  The beef was very lean and tender.  The sauce was good if a little sweet.  The beans would be judged better, perhaps, had I not eaten great beans from our other locations.

*Loved the fries; they were nice and greasy when hot, nice and crunchy when cold. 

*The food is just like Bates City BBQ in Bates City, MO, baby!  The fries are uniquely awesome!  The beef is lean and tender, the beans are always good and the sauce is sweet and lip smackin' good.  The place has been open just a few weeks and already a sure bet for city folk to get a good BBQ meal.  I'll be back! 

*This is a very good BBQ restaurant.  The sandwiches were a generous size and very tender.  The owner explained that there is some connection to the Bate's City BBQ we once visited (the one in Bate's City).  It is worth the trip.  Nice folks and good food.  Check it out.

*Small serving of burn ends. Beans were very good. Fries were overdone for my taste. Overall, I will go back!
